Creative Mindset for singer-songwriters: A research project

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in this study. My name is Lilli Unwin, and as a singer-songwriter and MA researcher, I am exploring the role of mindset skills in sustaining a creative practice.

This research project involves a new, short online course designed to support songwriters. I am looking for participants to take part in the course and share their experiences to help contribute to a deeper understanding of the creative process. This study has been granted ethical approval by the University of Wales Trinity St David’s Ethics Committee.

Is this study for me?

You are invited to participate if you are:

  • Over 18 and based in the UK.

  • Identify as a singer-songwriter (at any level – hobbyist, student, or professional).

  • Have experience of writing at least one song (finished or unfinished).

What Does Participation Involve?

Participation is voluntary, confidential, and can be done entirely online at your own pace. The main steps are:

  • Completing an initial online questionnaire (approx. 20 mins).

  • Engaging with a short, three-lesson online course and brief reflection prompts (approx. 30 mins).

  • Completing a final online questionnaire (approx. 20 mins).

  • There is also an optional follow-up interview to discuss your experience.

The total time commitment is approximately 70-90 minutes, which can be completed flexibly over a recommended three-week period.

The study closes on Friday 10th October.
